Very drab, very wet, very windy
Very drab, very wet, very windy, very bleak hereabouts these days, but my annual February scramble to find those first courageous flowers is in full swing. The stinking hellebore (poor thing, a quite unjustified adjective in my view) is well underway, to the delight of a few brave bumblebees on the lookout for an out-of-season nectar top-up, while the hazel catkins are frenetically blowing in the wind in a full-scale pollination frenzy (shot at a low speed to deliberately catch the wind-blown movement). Who will be next? Watch this space for the next thrilling episode…
