Not what I expected
So there I was yesterday evening, contentedly settling down in front of the screen to sort through a few images from my day’s walk in the woods, when my son rang me. Well that’s great, because he’s actually also my best friend, so we got down to having a good chat, and while chatting I walked to the window and looked out…
Oh goodness, I thought (or something similar), now that wasn’t what I was expecting at all! Mad March they say and how right they are! As night fell, it continued to snow, not a blizzard of course, but fat soggy flakes that turned the view from the window into something reminiscent of Narnia, do you remember? The children and the lamp post and the snow?
Now I know a lot of people start bouncing around with enthusiasm when the snow starts to fall and I can quite see your point. But (a confession) I actually don’t like snow that much, it’s cold and soggy and makes everything else cold and soggy as well, so I wasn’t overly pleased when I looked out of the window this morning.
Luckily, at our altitude mid-March snow doesn’t tend to hang around for long and in our village the colours are already coming back. Will it be the last for this season? Probably not, but I for one will be keeping my fingers crossed. It’s time to make way for the flowers and weird critters I’ve been yearning for on many a dark, cold winter’s night.
